Forward

Our planning for this trip has been a bit looser than our ride to Sturgis in 2007. Last year we spent uncounted hours planning where we would be every step of the way, including gas and lunch stops. We have however, been spending much time route-planning and agonizing over whether we will actually make it all the way to the California Coast due to the wild fires.

Our plan includes stays in New Orleans, Memphis, Oklahoma City, Vegas, San Francisco, Pikes Peak, St Louis, Nashville with various stops along the way.

As of today, there have been more than 40 fires burning some 50,000 acres in Northern California alone. If they continue, we will simply re-route after Vegas and head somewhere that makes sense at the time.

One addition to our packing list this year is a laptop that will make it easier to stay in touch and make route adjustments, rather than fighting for time on the hotel computer each day... we will see how well this works.

Since we were fully loaded last year, it means leaving some things behind.

Check in along the way to see how we are getting along...
